Today at 3:00 pm EDT from Market Square in San Antonio, Canelo Alvarez and Austin Trout will weigh in for tomorrow night's big Showtime main event at the Alamodome, with the WBC and WBA junior middleweight titles on the line.
Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO) and Trout (26-0, 14 KO) are meeting in a rare breed of a matchup, two young, undefeated titleholders, considered now the 1-2 fighters at 154 pounds (with Floyd Mayweather returning to 147), in a fight that presents a significant risk for the 22-year-old Mexican cash cow, considered a strong candidate to be boxing's next pay-per-view superstar.
Also on the card and weighing in today, Omar Figueroa (20-0-1, 16 KO) of Weslaco, Texas, will face Abner Cotto (16-0, 7 KO), with the vacant WBC "silver" lightweight title on the line. Figueroa has had issues making weight in the past, so that could be interesting.
