Darren Barker doesn't have the fight just yet, but he said today on Twitter that if he does face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June -- which Chavez wants -- he'll come back a winner, even if he goes on the road to Mexico.
If it gets confirmed and I go Mexico City I'm 100% coming back a winner mark my words! #teambarker #mexicoorlondonitwontmakeadifference
Barker (25-1, 16 KO) has only lost to Sergio Martinez in his career, same as Chavez Jr (46-1-1, 32 KO), who dropped a 12-round decision last September to Martinez, despite a final round charge that saw him nearly score the KO upset.
Barker has the talent to hang with just about anyone at 160 pounds, but Chavez has a mass advantage over just about anyone he faces at the weight, as he's basically busting out of the middleweight division physically. That's one of the reasons (but not the biggest, which is money) that Andre Ward wants to face Chavez sometime this year, too.
