According to Boxing Scene, Hennessy Sports and Sauerland Event have began negotiations for a fight between Tyson Fury and Kubrat Pulev. The bout will be to determine who will be inserted as the top contender for the IBF heavyweight belt. Currently, Pulev is ranked number one, Fury number two. Pulev also holds the EBU heavyweight title, and would be making a defense should the fight come together.
Nothing is set as of yet with regards to the time and location of the fight. Obviously, this is still very preliminary. In fact, whoever wins the bout will have to wait for a little while for other things to sort themselves out.
The winner will be penciled in to face the winner of Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin (it does appear to finally be happening). However, before those two get in the ring together they each have to make successful title defenses next month. Klitsschko holds the WBA/IBF titles, while Povetkin has the WBA "regular" belt. Klitschko is the WBA "Super" champion, which is code for "This guy probably won't lose any time soon so we need to get another belt out there and make some money off another poor fellow".
Povetkin's manager Vladimir Hryunov bid an astounding $23 million for the rights to Klitschko - Povetkin to happen by August just last week.
