Macau undercard results: Melindo, Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr, Dave Penalosa, Fleming score stoppage wins

Top Rank TV

Filipino fighters had a great start this morning in Macau, going 3-for-3, with Australia's Paul Fleming also scoring a stoppage win.

Milan Melindo TKO-4 Tommy Seran

Seran was a battler, but like you'll read in two more recaps below, he was simply outgunned by the Filipino. Melindo (29-0, 12 KO) scored knockdowns in the first and second rounds, then finished Seran off in the fourth with another big shot that put the Indonesian on the canvas. It was fun while it lasted, but Melindo proved his class in this matchup.

Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr KO-3 Nimithra Sithsaithong

What a fight this one was, a bit of a closet classic. Nimithra floored unbeaten Dodie Boy Jr in the first round on a solid shot to the head, the first time that Penalosa has been down in his career. In the second, Penalosa put Nimithra down, but the Thai underdog bounced back up, and even rallied a bit in the frame. The third round was more all-out action before a truly lethal body shot put Nimithra down for the count. About as brutal a body shot KO as you're going to see anywhere. Penalosa is now 11-0 (11 KO).

Paul Fleming TKO-4 Ryusei Yoshida

The fight was stopped on a cut that had pretty clearly been caused by a clash of heads, but I'm not familiar with the rules in China on this sort of thing. Most places in the States, this would have had to go four full to get an actual decision instead of a no-contest, but apparently that is not the case here. Fleming (18-0, 13 KO) was pretty dominant and more or less had his way with Yoshida (22-6, 10 KO), which wasn't a surprise or anything.

Dave Penalosa KO-2 Cheroenchai Sithsaithong

22-year-old Penalosa overpowered his Thai opponent in short order, dropping him on a vicious straight left hand near the end of the first round, then finishing him off early in the second with a brutal body attack. Cheroenchai went down and did not get up -- they were really punishing blows. Penalosa is now 6-0 (4 KO).
