Jorge Paez Jr celebrates victory over Edinson Garcia

Fights from this past Sunday through Saturday are covered, whether they are high profile or obscure.

Welcome to another results column. The previous week's edition can be found here. As mentioned a few weeks ago I've decided to take a break from automatically recapping cards I don't actually attend in person. As of yesterday I decided this break will be permanent. It became too much of a chore. When I initially started doing them there wasn't really much else for me to do here aside from using my own imagination. Now jobs just present themselves to me on a regular basis. However, if you want to know more about a fight listed below, which I still watch, feel free to ask.

On another note, since I'm done with the extra recaps, I'm just going to include all results I've seen whether they are "under the radar" or not. If it was a televised card that Scott Christ, Kory Kitchen, or anyone else on the BLH staff covered, I'll link to their recap. If it was a card I attended live, I'll link to my recap. And speaking of cards I will attend live, there are 2 this weekend detailed on the weekly TV schedule. Oh, and catch me on Bad Culture radio tonight (9 PM PDT) to hear me talk some boxing. That link should play live or on demand later, let me know otherwise.

Somehow I never imagined myself being this busy when I took this job... Mind you I still train as a fighter and upload fights as charity every day of the week. So when do I find time to do something that actually makes money? That's a good question...

2013-06-07 Little Creek Casino Resort, Shelton, Washington, USA

ESPN

Andrey Klimov MD10 John Molina (95-95, 97-93, 96-94)

Apparently the judges (and facebook fans) preferred Klimov's classical punches to Molina's Neanderthal-like-punches. Klimov's footwork advantage helped too. Molina was too one-dimensional and did not cut off the ring properly.

Farah Ennis UD10 Anthony Hanshaw (95-94, 96-93, 96-93)

...and this one here.

Jose Pedraza TKO7 Sergio Villanueva

David Lemieux TKO1 Robert Swierzbinski

2013-06-08 Max Schmeling Halle, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, Germany

ARD (Germany) / BoxNation (UK) / Polsat (Poland)

Marco Huck MD12 Ola Afolabi (117-111, 115-113, 114-114)

This bout was previously recapped by Scott Christ. Personally I thought Scott was kind to Afolabi in the 2nd half of the fight. Afolabi finally looked like he was trying by then, but his efforts were mostly futile.

Robert Woge UD12 Dariusz Sek (114-113, 118-110, 117-110)

IBF Inter-Continental light heavyweight title

Eduard Gutknecht UD12 Richard Vidal (120-108, 119-109, 120-108)

Vacant WBA Inter-Continental light heavyweight title

Tyron Zeuge UD8 David Sarabia

-----------------------

2013-06-08 Palasport Pentassuglia, Brindisi, Puglia, Italy

Sportitalia (Italy) / Kombat Sport (France)

Mouhamed Ali Ndiaye D12 Christopher Rebrasse (114-114?, 111-119?, 115-114?)

Most people would think Rebrasse easily won the fight because he won all of the dominant exchanges, but during lulls in activity Ndiaye made things debatable. It's rare that an 11 rounds to 1 scorecard ends up being the most acceptable for a bout that officially ended in a draw. Overall Ndiaye was walked down and beaten up. Ndiaye was at his best in round 2 (especially defensively) but it was mostly downhill from there onward until the championship rounds, which he still probably deserved to lose. Since the bout ended in a draw the EBU (European) super middleweight title remained vacant.

Rey Vargas KO2 Cecilio Santos

WBC Youth Silver super bantamweight title

-----------------------

2013-06-08 Centro De Convenciones, Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico

Azteca 7

Jorge Paez Jr KO1 Edinson Garcia

Garcia was a late replacement for Juan Urango. If Paez can keep getting himself into the kind of shape I saw in this fight, he's a player in the welterweight division.

Rodolfo Quintanilla D6 Dario Garibay

-----------------------

2013-06-08 Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom

Channel 5 (UK) / WealthTV (USA)

James DeGale RTD4 Stjepan Bozic

Vacant IBF super flyweight title, on the line for Sosa only as Sanchez missed weight.

Jesus Gutierrez UD4 Daniel Calzada

Andy Ruiz Jr TKO1 Carl Davis

If a bout is not mentioned which took place on one of the above cards it’s most likely because I haven’t got around to watching it yet. In the event that I do watch such a bout at a later time it’s still unlikely I will update this recap. My recaps will be posted once a week, devoted to cards that most casual American boxing fans haven’t seen or heard of. For available footage of the previously reported bouts follow @sweetboxing on twitter. You may also email the author of this piece at rgbivins@gmail.com.
