A July 6 fight between WBO junior middleweight titlist Zaurbek Baysangurov and former American Olympian Demetrius Andrade is off, as Baysangurov has suffered a back injury during training camp.
"I am very disappointed. My back betrayed me again. Formerly I had to reschedule the fight with Konecny for the same reason. Though I have never been training this hard and I'm in the best shape ever but the pain does not allow me to go on training and I have to submit the cancelation. But I promise to all of the fans that I will be back very soon!!!"
Baysangurov (28-1, 20 KO) would have had home field advantage for the fight in Kiev, Ukraine, and there has been no rescheduled date mentioned yet. Andrade (19-0, 13 KO) is the mandatory challenger, so he should still get his title shot eventually. The 25-year-old American last fought in January, beating Freddy Hernandez, so if he doesn't take an interim fight and this bout can be rescheduled quickly enough, he won't really be out of the ring for an unusual amount of time.
