Will Andre Ward get his reported wish and part ways with career-long promoter Dan Goossen? That may be in the cards, as Ward and Goossen are said to be meeting with an arbitrator on Tuesday to discuss the status of the fighter's contract.
Ward reportedly wants out of the deal, and there have been rumors he's seeking a move to Top Rank. Bob Arum denies having any contact with Ward. Ward (26-0, 14 KO) has not fought since September 2012, when he stopped Chad Dawson in a dominant HBO debut, following his rise to prominence on Showtime, where he won the Super Six World Boxing Classic.
The 29-year-old Ward had a fight scheduled earlier this year against Top Rank's Kelly Pavlik, which was postponed and then canceled when Ward underwent shoulder surgery. Pavlik subsequently retired from boxing, while Ward has stayed in the boxing spotlight to some degree, working as an analyst for HBO Sports.
