Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez have been hitting major market after major market to promote their September 14 Showtime pay-per-view main event, which will be the biggest fight of 2013.
Above are photos from the stops in Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami, all well-attended and drawing major response from local fans, for and against both fighters. There's no doubt that this is the most aggressively-promoted fight in recent memory, and I'd say this is even eclipsing the early media blitz for Mayweather's 2007 fight with Oscar De La Hoya, to date the biggest pay-per-view in boxing history, as well as the biggest gate in Nevada history.
All in all, this should be expected to be a big-time hit, and if they're convincing local markets to buy in bigger numbers than usual with this tour, which gives more of a personal touch to places like Chicago, DC, and even New York, by seeing the fighters talk up the fight, there remains an outside shot of challenging the records.
