Mike Alvarado will be back this fall, in either October or November, according to co-manager Henry Delgado at The RING. Alvarado is coming off of a career-best win over Brandon Rios on March 30. The fight is being targeted for Denver, where Alvarado has some solid drawing power.
"Last week, they told us that they're going to do something here in Denver. They just have to get the dates right and the venue," said Alvarado's co-manager, Henry Delgado, adding that Alvarado is on vacation until the middle of next week. "We've fought here before, and he's sold out every time that he's fought here. This should be a great promotion."
Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO) suffered a hand injury in the rematch win over Rios, but had surgery after the bout and Delgado says he's good to go for October. That seems to indicate that Rios landed the November 23 fight against Manny Pacquiao more due to Team Pacquiao preference than the injury, or something more than the injury, at any rate. Alvarado was briefly considered the front-runner to face Pacquiao, but the honor went to Rios instead.
