Chisora vs Scott results: Dereck Chisora scores controversial knockout in six

Scott Heavey

Dereck Chisora got back into the win column today at Wembley Arena, but it was not without controversy. Malik Scott went down on a right hand in the sixth round, and as he rose to his feet at the count of nine, referee Phil Edwards counted him out, though Scott had clearly beaten the count and was ready to continue.

After the fight, it needs to be noted, Scott (35-1-1, 12 KO) said that he knows he beat the count, but he was down legitimately, he did intend to fight on as he got up, and that the referee did get it wrong, but he's not making it about the count. He congratulated Chisora (17-4, 11 KO) on his win, and simply said that he hopes to get a rematch.

The fight itself wasn't much to look at, as Scott played his usual spoiler role and Chisora just kept bulling forward. The styles didn't really mesh for anything particularly entertaining, but it had been interesting at least, and the outcome was still in doubt. BLH had Scott up 48-47 after five rounds, but Chisora was doing a pretty good job pressuring, and Scott could easily have been down by the same score, too.

Chisora will probably look to get himself back into the money mix as soon as he can -- a fight with David Price might be interesting for both parties -- while Scott will, obviously, hope to land a rematch or something of equal value. He's had a rough 2013, given a debated draw in his last fight and now this, having lost his unblemished record in two straight controversial bouts.
