We all know the Boxing Gods do not take to kindly to being mocked. Just ask Abner Mares when he agreed to fight Johnny Gonzalez. By taking the fight against Marcos Maidana, a fight he should easily win, has Floyd invoked the wrath of the gods come May 3? Kovalev and Stevenson have already annoyed the gods by deciding to fight other people before they fight each other. Has Mayweather sent them over the edge with pre-announcement built up and the eventual announcement?
Wouldn't that be the proverbial nut slap from the gods if Maidana were to actually beat Mayweather? After all the future legends Floyd has fought, his first lose would be to an less popular Argentinian version of Arturo Gatti. Just taking his more recent wins into account; future hall of famer Oscar De La Hoya, at the time undefeated British superstar Ricky Hatton, the greatest Mexican boxer since Chavez in Juan Manuel Marquez, former #1 ranked Shane Mosley, (at the time) rising superstar Victor Ortiz, Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto, his first fight out of prison against Robert Guerrero, and future boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez; he's had a legendary career. Seems like it would just be a bitch to Floyd that after beating all these guys and more, he would lose to Marcos Maidana. I guess the Boxing Gods will decide Floyd's fate on May 3. (Just in case you didn't get it, I'm kidding with all this)
