This is a comment I posted earlier in a discussion about the current state of BLH and how new users/practices are affecting the site and I felt like it deserved its own fanpost, though it is meant to be comical my feelings expressed are genuine and its message is serious, I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
BLH is the greatest site I have ever visited and I am proud to be a member but I would never wish for the site to become some gated elitist utopia where all the conversations are just eloquence pissing matches and quote trivia; I want this place to be a melting pot of different personalities, even if I don’t like all of them (so long as their feelings are genuine and they’re not trolling),so that conversations can become that much more interesting, and I certainly would never wish to deny any newcomers the opportunity I had to experience the splendor of this site either.
As the paragon internet boxing community I believe we have a responsibility to take in the refugees of troll torn sites and those just simply seeking reasonable boxing related conversation, those that come here just to spread and incite hate stick out like a sore thumb and often do not last long because more often than not our community is immediately on them like white on rice so I have no fear of this great site becoming a dystopia through immigration.
Christ bless B-L-H,
Site that I love,
Stand beside her, and guide her
Through the fight with insight from a dove.
From the fanposts, to the fanshots,
To the live threads, green with recs
Christ bless B-L-H, My home sweet home
Christ bless B-L-H, My home sweet home.
(This is revised from the original comment. Also, "the fight" references boxer fan wars e.g. Pac vs. Floyd, personal qualms, the cold war, boxing matches in general, etc. and "a dove" refers to this definition: "a person who advocates peaceful or conciliatory policies, esp. in foreign affairs" source: Google define)
B-L-H! B-L-H! B-L-H!
After this Sunday I will not be able to come on here for 2 1/2 months or so so I suppose I should use this post to say farewell to you all as well. I will miss all of your conversation very much and hopefully I haven't bothered you all too much since I've joined, if I did I hope you enjoy my absence while it lasts, I am really looking forward to coming back and experiencing the seemingly stacked year of boxing with all of you, take it easy.
P.S. Please feel free to add your own flags, chants, etc.
