Wilder vs Scott results: No joke -- Deontay Wilder crushes Malik Scott in first round

Tom Casino/SHOWTIME

Deontay Wilder smashed Malik Scott just like he's done all of his other opponents, running his undefeated and knockout streaks to 31 fights.

Deontay Wilder ran his record to 31-0 (31 KO) with a 94-second knockout of Malik Scott (36-2-1, 13 KO) tonight on Showtime Championship Boxing in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, but the crowd wasn't exactly thrilled with how the fight ended.

After running it back in Showtime's slow motion and slowing down the slow motion on my TV, getting right up on it and taking a solid look a few times over from various angles, the KO seemed legit enough to me, at least enough that I don't think wild, immediate calls of a "fix" hold much weight. In real time, his right hand, which followed a left hook that smacked Scott on the temple, didn't seem to land. But Wilder's right did get through, busting past Scott's gloves.

Whether or not Scott could have continued is something only Malik Scott knows. He made an apparent effort to get up, but he bounced up just before the 10 count concluded, familiar from his fight with Dereck Chisora. This time, Scott didn't argue.

Wilder didn't win over the Puerto Rican fans tonight, but he made a statement against a better class of opposition than he's faced to date.
