Hopkins vs Shumenov live streaming results: Peter Quillin easily retains WBO middleweight title

Peter Quillin had no trouble tonight, but his winning performance was booed by the live audience and criticized heavily by fans watching on TV.

Peter Quillin dominated tonight on Showtime, easily defeating the overmatched Lukas Konecny, but failed to impress while staying unbeaten and retaining his WBO middleweight title in Washington, DC.

Quillin won on scores of 120-108, 119-109, and 119-109. Bad Left Hook scored the bout 119-109 for "Kid Chocolate."

Quillin (31-0, 22 KO) was pressed a bit by Konecny (50-5, 23 KO), but the 35-year-old Czech veteran just didn't have the power to make any impact on Quillin. He was clearly at a major physical disadvantage, but Quillin did just about everything he could to make the fight look even a little reasonable, showing his bad habits with defensive lapses, a lack of head movement, and an instinct to back himself up to the ropes far too often. Konecny was able to land a good amount, but never did any damage.

On the other hand, Quillin seemed to hurt Konecny a little bit when he'd land clean, and cut up his opponent's right eye, which could have conceivably stopped the bout in the 10th round or so, but did not, much to the chagrin of some of the viewing public.

The fans in DC booed the bout noticeably in the later rounds. After the fight, when asked by Showtime's Jim Gray if he really feels that he's on the level of Sergio Martinez or Gennady Golovkin, Quillin replied that as long as he has Al Haymon in his corner, he is. This didn't make a lot of sense, but it got Al Haymon mentioned.

Quillin also said he's willing to fight expected next opponent Daniel Jacobs, if Haymon pays him enough to do so.
