Tonight from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Adonis Stevenson jumps networks to make his Showtime debut in a light heavyweight title match against Andrzej Fonfara, with four other fights set to be televised, as well.
On Showtime Extreme at 7:00 pm EDT, we'll see a pair of bouts featuring hot prospects. Montreal-based Colombian light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez (14-0, 8 KO) will face Maryland club fighter Alexander Johnson (15-1, 6 KO) in a bout set for 10 rounds, while junior middleweight Julian "J Rock" Williams (15-0-1, 9 KO) of Philadelphia will take on Michael Medina (26-4-2, 19 KO) in a fight set for eight rounds.
The Showtime card kicks off at 9:00 pm EDT, with three fights set to air. In the opener, Jermell Charlo (23-0, 11 KO) will face Charlie Ohta (24-1-1, 16 KO) in a 10-round junior middleweight bout. Ohta, born Charles Bellamy, is an American fighter who has spent the bulk of his career in Japan.
In the co-feature, middleweight knockout artist David Lemieux (31-2, 29 KO) will face Fernando Guerrero (26-2, 19 KO) in a 12-round fight for the vacant NABF title, which is tied to the WBC.
And in the main event, Stevenson (23-1, 20 KO) looks to, in theory, set up a big unification fight later this year with Bernard Hopkins, facing Polish-born Chicagoan Fonfara (25-2, 15 KO) in a fight set for 12 rounds for Stevenson's WBC and Ring Magazine titles.
