Boxing News & Notes [Sunday June 22 - Friday June 27]

Been a slow news week here on Bad Left Hook, and I wanna talk about some stuff. So I will.

---

Frank Warren, promoter of Dereck Chisora, says that David Price will not be the next person to fight the winner of Fury vs Chisora II. No argument here... I didn't think the winner of that fight WOULD take a step down to face Price..

Marco Huck, the WBO Cruiserweight champion, supposedly to fight at the tail-end of August, against a 37yo Albanian with six losses and no wins of note.. in fact, the only thing worse is that Huck already beat him before..

Yoan Hernandez, the IBF Cruiserweight champion, to defend in mid-August against Firat Arslan. Arslan put on a hell of a show with his two fights against Huck. It's hard to argue him as a top#10 contender though. It'll be a fun fight while it lasts.

WBC Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi to fight Roman Gonzalez in a pretty nice Flyweight super-fight.

On the same card, the WBC Light Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue will fight Samartlek Kokietgym, a non-contender from Thailand.

The WBC, IBF, and WBA presidents met in Mexico to discuss some stuff. The WBO president declined to attend [classy]. Topics discussed: title unifications, open-scoring, drug-testing, and some stuff related to gloves.

The fight between IBF/WBA/WBO Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitscko and #1 contender Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria is signed, sealed, and delivered. The fighters had a photo-op. Here it is:

Apparently Golovkin vs Geale is going to have a 24/7 episode. Nice! These are two guys I'd love to know more about. From the bits I've seen of Geale from Australian TV that have wound up on YouTube, he seems as boring as paste, however.

This hasn't been mentioned anywhere... but did you know that Michael Katsidis is still fighting? Did you know he's doing a pointless rematch with Graham Earl? He is!

Apparently Jeff Lacy is still fighting? And he's being lined up to get KOed by Savigne? Wait, is it Umberto Savigne or Humberto Savigne? Now I've seen it both ways.

Yanno, since Abril hasn't fought for 16+ months, it actually makes sense to have an Interim WBA Lightweight champion. Too bad it has to be Darleys Perez.
