For those interested, this Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand will host an interesting matchup between heavyweights Brian "The Beast" Minto (39W, 25KO, 7L) and highly-touted prospect Joseph Parker (8W, 7KO, 0L).
Most know the American Minto through his wars against top-level competition such as Marco Huck, Chris Arreola, and his lion heart in the UK's Prizefighter tournament. Last year he shockingly picked apart tough New Zealand opponent Shane Cameron to win the WBO Oriental heavyweight strap, which led to this bout against Parker.
On the other side is Joseph Parker, at the age of 22 years old, is labelled the best thing to come out of New Zealand boxing since David Tua. In fact, Parker's trainer is none other than Kevin Barry, Tua's old trainer before a financial dispute hindered Tua's career. Training out of Las Vegas, Parker recently won the WBA-PABA heavyweight title on the undercard of the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alex Leapai fight, a title which will be up for grabs on Saturday. He also defeated a well-past-his-prime Francois "The White Buffalo" Botha in devastating fashion last year.
What make this interesting is the fact that Parker has been pitted with such an experienced fighter at such an early stage. Will be able to use his reach to score a KO or be the outside fighter to box his way to victory? Or will his inexperience lead him into deep waters where he'll get blasted by a wily veteran like Minto?
