Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev were already signed to meet before Kovalev knocked out Blake Caparello in two rounds, and now, the fight has a home. Hopkins and Kovalev will meet on familiar ground at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KO) is happy about the venue for the fight, calling AC his "second home":
"Atlantic City is a second home to me. Some of my most memorable victories and greatest accomplishments of my career have taken place there including my fights against Antonio Tarver and Kelly Pavlik. I expect Philly to represent and come out to Boardwalk Hall to see me make history once again."
Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KO) has fought once at the venue, though in The Ballroom, in his win over Cedric Agnew earlier this year. His win over Caparello was held at the Revel in the city, though. Hopkins last fought at Boardwalk Hall for his October 2013 win over
Hopkins, who turns 50 in January, will be defending his IBF light heavyweight title, while Kovalev will defend his WBO belt in the unification fight. HBO will televise.
