The O2 Arena will play host to a Matchroom Boxing card to be aired on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom on October 11, featuring the ring returns of heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua, featherweight contender Lee Selby, and John Ryder.
Joshua (7-0, 7 KO) will be looking to pick up his first title, as he'll face veteran Denis Bakhtov (38-9, 25 KO) for the WBC International title, a minor and ultimately meaningless title to us as fans, but one that will put Joshua on the track to an eventual WBC title shot, even if we're talking a few more years down the line.
Bakhtov, 34, beat Konsantin Airich on July 26 in Latvia. Airich had been tentatively set to face Joshua on September 13.
Selby (19-1, 7 KO) will face Joel Brunker (27-0, 15 KO) in an IBF eliminator, with the winner in line for a shot at featherweight titleholder Evgeny Gradovich. The 27-year-old Selby is a former European, British, and Commonwealth champion at 126 pounds. Australia's Brunker, 28, hasn't fought since August 2013, when he beat American veteran Mike Oliver over eight rounds.
Middleweight prospect Ryder (18-1, 10 KO) will face tough Sergey Khomitsky (29-11-2, 12 KO). Ryder, 26, has won three straight since a 2013 loss to Billy Joe Saunders. The 39-year-old Khomitsky lost his last fight to Robert Stieglitz, which came after a win over Frank Buglioni. He's never an easy out, and is a legitimate test for Ryder.
Also in action will be junior welterweight prospect Ricky Boylan (11-0, 4 KO), who will face Tyler Goodjohn (10-3, 4 KO), and John Wayne Hibbert (13-2, 7 KO) will take on Philip Bowes (9-0, 2 KO) in a 10-round junior welterweight fight.
