Super middleweight king Andre Ward was in attendance at tonight's Roc Nation Sports debut boxing event, having announced his signing with the company after a year out of the sport due to legal issues with Goossen Promotions. He was asked about his future plans, and his thoughts on the current pound-for-pound race.
On when he'll fight next
"I would personally like to get in the ring in late March or sometime in April. I don't know who yet. I'm gonna be ready and give me fans a great show. They won't be disappointed.
On facing Gennady Golovkin
"It's no problem. If you look at my track record, I have no problem fighting the best. That's what champions and contenders are supposed to do."
On whether he's No. 1 P4P
"That's Floyd Mayweather. Floyd Mayweather has done it longer than me, he's been at this level for a very long time. I'm a young guy who always pays homage to the guys who go before me, but as a competitor and as somebody who's in this sport, I always shoot for the top spot. That's the spot I'm coming for. All due respect to Floyd, but that's the spot you should always be coming for."
