Andre Dirrell, who was set to face Blake Caparello in a super middleweight co-feature bout on October 17's PBC on NBC event, has withdrawn from the scheduled fight due to an undisclosed injury, according to ESPN.com.
Dirrell (24-2, 16 KO) is coming off of a loss to James DeGale on May 23, a competitive bout where Dirrell started slow before making a strong rally later in the fight. He was hoping to bounce back strong against Caparello (21-1-1, 6 KO), a former light heavyweight title challenger who has moved down a division.
But the show will go on, airing in the afternoon with Lamont Peterson facing Felix Diaz Jr in the main event from Fairfax, Virginia. Replacing the Dirrell-Caparello fight as the TV co-feature will be a 10-round welterweight fight between unbeaten prospects Prichard Colon (16-0, 13 KO) and Terrell Williams (14-0, 12 KO), which in some respects might be a more interesting fight, as we'll get a good look at a pair of fighters who haven't had much TV exposure.
