Amir Khan is seemingly calling out everyone for a big fight - everyone except Kell Brook you'll notice. Khan has had a history of dismissing Brook (who has called out Amir for years now), but looked to have changed his tune once Brook won a title by beating Shawn Porter. After that fight, Amir actually began to acknowledge Brook as a legitimate opponent for himself, but that acknowledgement only lasted a short while. In an interview with ITV, Amir Khan is back to dismissing a Brook as a possible opponent for the time being.
"There's not point in me fighting him just yet, I mean Kell Brook is not on the same level as Amir Khan at the moment. Look, he'll get there one day, and obviously he's begging for the fight against me, but like I said, I'm at a different level where I want to fight the elite level of boxing, I want to fight the biggest names of boxing...My name's getting mentioned between the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather, Miguel Cotto now. When Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather were asked who Kell Brook is they said they don't know who Kell Brook is, so I think that says it all."
Sounds like we took a short trip through the hot tub time machine as Khan is back to his old song and dance regarding Brook. Khan might be wise to remember the saying, "beggars can't be choosers." He mentions Brook 'begging' for a fight with him, but he's been doing exactly the same thing with Mayweather and Pacquiao. And it's not exactly as if there wouldn't be any money in a Khan-Brook fight, particularly in the U.K., so this must mainly be about ego - which Khan is known to have an abundance of. Whether or not Khan chooses to admit it, a Brook fight just might be the most lucrative option for him - assuming he doesn't win one of those golden tickets from a chocolate bar.
