The WBC approved this upcoming (non-title, catch-weight) fight on April 11th against Lamont Peterson, but don't be fooled, the WBC is serious about taking care of business. As a show of force, they are now ordering that Garcia face Viktor Postol after this Peterson scrap. Never mind that Garcia will not have actually fought at 140lbs in over a years time, and never mind that there's really no hope to even expect him to campaign in the weight class again. Just know that the WBC is serious about the integrity of its champions and that's why they'll allow Garcia to hold onto that green strap a while longer.
Realistically Danny is just moving up to 147, albeit incredibly slowly, and even publicly declared his move up on many occasions. Thus, the expectation for a Garcia-Postol (or a Garcia vs. Anybody 140lbs or under) is pretty nonsensical. But to make it sound even better, the WBC also determined that the winner of an imgainary Garcia-Postol fight will have to take on Lucas Matthysse. If you haven't caught on by now, we are pretty much just exploring alternate universes and dimensions where boxing is actually a completely well-functioning entity. But no, we all pretty much know what will come of this in our reality. Garcia will likely vacate his title and look towards greener pastures, whereas two other fellows will fight for a vacant belt (maybe Postol-Matthysse).
Speaking of which, who might you favor in a battle between Postol and Matthysse? It's quite the clash in styles.
