WBC lightweight titlist Dejan Zlaticanin had been ordered to defend his green strap against the Jorge Linares-Anthony Crolla winner. Jorge Linares would end up taking the win but it's looking like he'll now face Crolla again in a rematch, which is more than fine by Zlaticanin who instead is looking to fight Mikey Garcia in a lucrative bout.
"I heard about [Linares-Crolla II] and if it happens I wish good luck to both but it's further proof that Linares doesn't want to fight me. He knows that I can finish the fight with one punch and he wants to stay away from me."
"I was supposed to fight the winner, but like I said they don't want to fight me so I don't even think about them at the moment. I'm focused on my fight against Mikey Garcia as we wait for the date and some details."
Mikey Garcia has gone on record a number of times stating that he wants to capture a world title at 135lbs before moving back up in weight, and this just might be his chance. Zlaticanin certainly seems pretty optimistic that the fight will come together and be held by the end of November.
