As lightweight contender Luke Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs) prepares for his upcoming world title fight against pound-for-pound rated Vasiliy Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KOs) on August 31st in London’s O2 Arena, Campbell tells Sky Sports that the timing of this fight is perfect for him.
Campbell says both Lomachenko and himself are now fully in their primes and expects that to make for a good show for the fans.
“I think I’m going from strength to strength and this is the perfect time for me. Both of us are in our prime and this for me is perfect timing,” said Campbell during a press conference on Monday.
“I’m a competitor and I want to compete at the highest level and this is just one of the moments where you either make it or break it but I believe in myself and with challenges like this I rise to the occasion.”
Campbell, 31, is currently riding a three-fight win streak since dropping a split decision to Jorge Linares back in late 2017. Lomachenko, meanwhile, says that perhaps Campbell will present a challenge for him considering his physical dimensions, with Campbell having the height and reach advantages on his side.
