Fields/Releford r1
Fields starts his bullish style right away, and Releford throws a swooping right hook. Releford is backed into the corner and in danger right away. Gets out before Fields can do any serious damage. Releford actually looks scared. Nevermind -- Releford is throwing bombs with Fields. Releford is showing some nice counters to Fields' plodding punches.

Fields is pawing away, and Releford keeps nailing him with clean counter shots. This isn't exactly a marquee fight, but it's damn sure fun to watch, as expected. This is middleweight pace. Fields' nose has been bloodied. Fields' left is just slow as hell, he might be hurting. Releford with another hard shot just before the bell.

Fields/Releford r2
Releford seems content to move around and look for his shots and keep Fields moving, which Fields doesn't want to do, of course. This is a sloppy, exciting brawl. Fields is the ugliest puncher this side of Valuev, and boy will that be a humdinger if Fields wins this one.

Releford keeps getting stuck in the corner, where Fields tries to unload, but Releford is able to escape every time. Releford didn't land the same amount of big punches he did in the first, but I'm giving this round to him again.

Fields/Releford r3
Slower round this time around, as Fields is looking even lazier and sluggish than usual, and in turn, Releford has nothing to counter if Fields isn't throwing and throwing and throwing. Releford is wisely staying away and not trying to move in. By sheer business, Fields takes this round, as Releford never had an opportunity to get out of the blocks, since his blocks are held in place by what Fields is doing.

Fields/Releford r4
Releford is doing a good job covering up and escaping every time Fields tries an onslaught. Releford with a left-right combo followed with a left hook. It's not usual you say this, but Fields should maybe just forget about combos since that's the only time Releford has a chance to produce any offense.

Fields is just pawing, pawing, pawing, and Releford does nothing but counter. I give this round to Fields. It's been even so far, and entertaining, but technically, it nears the absurd.

I think I've described all you can describe about this fight from a stylistic standpoint.

Releford has switched southpaw, and that might throw Fields off. Fields throws an uppercut to the body, maybe low. Releford throws hard at the end of the round.

Fields looks tired as all hell in the corner.

Fields/Releford r6
The longer this goes, the more I expect Releford to drop a shaky-legged Fields.

Fields with an assault in the corner, but Releford gets away. Fields is swinging away but it's just not working as Releford is too slick. I don't think Fields has really hurt Releford even one time. Fields seems like he's getting cranky with his inability to put Releford on the canvas.

I really hate the Versus Network's insistence on fellating its audience for scoring the fight correctly on the web site. The only people watching this are diehard boxing fans, let's be honest. You're not getting new ones with Tye Fields.

Wally goes on a strange tangent about how Fields is white and race sells in boxing and I wonder if he's trying to get relieved of his duties with the Versus Network.

Releford lands a sharp blow early and Fields just keeps pawing. Fields is exhausted, and what the hell does Releford have to lose by opening up and going to the knockout? Fields takes this one.

Fields/Releford r8
You'd honestly think Releford would cash in his chips and look for a shot. I mean he's not a big puncher, but he's a 230-pound man fighting a tired dinosaur. Fields is winning this fight now because of Releford's fear of getting hurt inside. It's certainly not because Fields is doing anything exceptional. Releford is doing nothing except eating paw shots. For a tired guy his size, Tye Fields stays damn busy, and that's impressive.

Fields/Releford r9
Same as the last couple of rounds, and this one has become pretty much a routine affair. Releford gave it more of a go than I expected, but Fields is going to win this fight, and he deserves to. This won't be BS scoring to protect a Valuev/Fields match, Tye Fields has done enough to win this fight, and Releford has not.

Fields/Releford r10
If Releford is going to win this fight, he's got 3 minutes. I don't see it happening.

Releford is looking like he's going to come in over and over, but then he kind of half-asses it and backs right out again. Releford with a sharp right. He's got a minute left to score this KO. Releford threw a big right haymaker and missed, and that might be it. Releford is fighting here, and so is Fields. This is a finish that deserves the applause it's getting. Fields staggers Releford with a left hook at about :20 left. We end it with a flurry. This was a really fun fight, and earned that ovation.

Solis/Grigsby r1
For the record, I'm rooting for Grigsby. Just for funsies.

After watching Tye Fields, watching light flyweights is absolutely stunning.

Feeling-out round. I have to wonder if Solis actually wanted this fight. Hard to call this one, so I won't!

This is just bizarre following Fields, I seriously feel like I'm watching midgets. It's like Little Beaver and Lord Littlebrook being in the same ring as King Kong Bundy, you know? You might know.

Still not a lot of action, but Solis is a little bit busier and establishing his ground a little better. Grigsby has yet to do much of anything.

Solis is one serious-looking MFer -- right as I say that, so do they. Then they make a pot joke re: Grigsby. In some ways I find the Versus commentary to be a ball. They're just shooting from the hip a lot of the time, like the weird Archie comics discussion in the first round.

Nice jab from Solis, followed with a really solid combo that hurts Grigsby. Grigsby looks like a tentative old man tonight, and it appears as though Solis is starting to smell blood.

Grigsby doesn't have the speed to fight Solis if it's Solis' game. And now Grigsby starts fighting dirty. Hard body shot from Solis. This fight is Archie's to lose.

I'm honestly amazed that the heavyweight fight had about 200 times the action that this fight does. Solis is in complete control, and if Grigsby hasn't uncorked anything yet, he's not going to. So what I'm saying is Will Grigsby is pretty much finished. This should probably be his last fight, because he looks like a fighter without any heart or initiative tonight. It's almost sad.

Commentators seem as bored as I am with Grigsby's effort. Solis knows very well he doesn't have to do much, because Grigsby is landing five punches a round.

Let's say Rocky IV was the last Rocky movie, right? That would have been a good, over-the-top finish. It was shit compared to the first movie, shit compared to the second, and shit compared to even the Mr. T third movie, but it was still good popcorn fun, and Rocky ended the Cold War, which was a long time coming, against that juicing communist Drago.

But then they made Rocky V with Tommy Morrison, and it was absolutely awful, the one Rocky that no Rocky fan even likes, except for me on the same level that I like Smokey and the Bandit 2: I love the original, and there are enough traces of it in the shitty sequel that it maintains a little charm.

(The pretty coolness of Rocky Balboa isn't an issue here, for the record.)

But Rocky V was, for a long time, the last Rocky. What a bad taste in the mouth that left on the series, you know?
