On September 11, Wladimir Klitschko will be rematching Samuel Peter, likely to be aired on ESPN. Klitschko was slated to fight mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin, but after failing to show up at their press conference and concerned that Povetkin would pull out of the fight (and there are also rumors that Povetkin never actually signed the contract), the IBF stripped Povetkin of his mandatory status and has installed Samuel Peter. This came after Povetkin had delayed taking the fight for the two years since being made mandatory. Reportedly, Povetkin's promoter wanted the fight, but trainer Teddy Atlas wanted to hold off because he thought Povetkin still wasn't ready. The first time Peter and Klitschko fought, Peter knocked Klitschko down three times but lost a decision.
