(Photo by Al Bello / Getty Images) From a DiBella Entertainment release, here is Andre Berto's full statement on his withdrawal from the January 30 bout with Shane Mosley: Since the 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday evening, I have been focusing on my family and the Haitian people who are facing an inconceivable battle for survival while still trying to continue to prepare for an opportunity I have dreamt of since childhood. I lost several family members to the earthquake and after two days without word, was relieved to learn that my sister, Naomi and her daughter, Jessica survived, but were left homeless. I have seen the pain in my parents’ eyes as they attempt to understand what has happened to our homeland and recognize a place they once called home. As a result of this disaster, I am mentally and physically exhausted and therefore I have no choice but to withdraw from my bout on January 30. Throughout the past six days, I have received an incredible outpouring of support, and I sincerely appreciate everyone’s prayers for the people of Haiti. I hope that everyone will continue to keep the Haitian people in their thoughts and prayers as we work to rebuild this proud nation. The rebuilding of Haiti is not something that will happen overnight, but I am fully dedicated to helping the Haitian people recover from this catastrophic event.
"If you concede to whatever Mayweather wants, that's giving him an edge. We're bigger than Mayweather. We don't need him. We don't work for him. "So, the way I feel now, we'll go fight Clottey, then we'll fight the winner of Mosley and Berto." -- Freddie Roach, speaking to the Los Angeles Times
"At the end of the day I am going to just be in there fighting and I think this is going to be a real entertaining match up. Me and Mosley are extreme competitors and it is just going to be a good fight for the fans to watch. It is going to be exciting." -- Andre Berto in an interview with BoxingScene.com's Ryan Burton

Urango-Berto meet at the opening of the New Yankee Stadium on Thursday. The two will fight on May 30th. More.
Why are all these fight posters set in the future that was imagined in 1993? It's like 1998 came to call in the world of boxing. Anyway here's the Berto-Collazo poster.

The official fight poster for September 27's HBO double-header, pitting Shane Mosley against Ricardo Mayorga in the main event, and WBC welterweight titlist Andre Berto defending against veteran Steve Forbes in the featured undercard bout. I find this poster interesting for many reasons. First of all, "a night of the welterweight elite" is a bit much. Mosley-Mayorga will be contested at 154 pounds, for one thing, and Mayorga hasn't fought at welterweight since 2003. Forbes is also not really a welterweight and nowhere near the elite, though his weight issue goes the other way. This poster is a pack of lies! Good color, though. Also it looks fast. HBO and Showtime totally know me.
