Super Six dream has officially become a nightmare

Super Six tourney has turned out to be more of a hassle than a success.

Froch vs Abraham: Which one has to rebound once more?

What happens when you put two world class fighters in a ring together, add a little explosiveness and just touch of , "I cannot lose this fight" mentality? What you get is the upcoming Carl Froch-Arthur Abraham bout. Each combatant is coming off of a loss that many in the boxing world thought that they would win. Froch ventured to Denmark to face Mikkel Kessler. Kessler was the odds on favorite heading into Showtime’s Super Six Tournament, but was upset in round one by now tourney favorite, Andre Ward. Some viewed the Ward fight as a bout that showed certain limitations for Kessler. Besides suffering numerous headbutts, Kessler seemed to be outhustled and lost a technical decision. Froch had dealt Andre Dirrell a loss in their first round fight. The fight was, to be honest, hard to watch.

Allegations of Dirrell Cheating Are Naive and Unwarranted

by Dafydd Thomas of The Boxing Tribune Experienced writer and analyst, T.K. Stewart, has been the first to openly criticize Andre Dirrell following his disqualification victory over Arthur Abraham at the weekend, accusing Dirrell of 'mock pain and agony' as he was laid flat on the canvas following a cheap shot from Arthur Abraham in Detroit. Stewart complains that Dirrell faked injury to claim his first victory in the Super 6 Boxing Classic so he can continue on in Showtime's 168-pound tournament. As always, Arthur Abraham's Armenian fan club has used this to back their poorly-thought out argument on how their guy was poorly treated by Michigan officials, and how he was robbed of a 32nd career victory. Dirrell was clearly ahead at this point in the fight and looked relatively comfortable, if slightly tired, as he hopped on his motor scooter and stayed well clear of Abraham, who stalked him looking for another dramatic knockout. The momentum was hardly with Abraham, even though he should have been awarded a knockdown in the tenth. Read more...

Bute in Discussions with Dirrell

According to the linked article (in French), Interbox and Gary Shaw have entered into discussions for Lucian Bute to fight Andre Dirrell in his next fight. Bute's mandatory with Andrade would become due in late June, so any fight would need to be before then. In the article, Shaw himself is quoted as saying he'd love to get Dirrell in there against Bute in Montreal, and that Showtime has expressed interest in the fight. It also mentions that Interbox representatives are considering a Bute fight against the Green-De Leon winner. Bute fighting either Dirrell or Green has the potential to be a fantastic fight.
