Arum called me and I told him I don't have a problem with the fight being at 145 pounds. In fact, I don't care if Cotto wants to weigh 200 pounds. I trust my fighter, so I care very little about the weight issues. I haven't talked to Manny, who will make the final decision. He is a grown man who makes his own decisions. All I can do is give my recommendation. Obviously we want to see Manny get paid more than his last fight. There's no reason to take a step back on the money, so we still have to discuss those details.
"I told Manny I would be very disappointed in him if he didn't have Hatton stopped by the end of the third round. A lot of people ask me if I'm worried about Manny fighting Hatton since Hatton has never lost a fight at 140 pounds. As long as Floyd Mayweather [Sr.] is in Hatton's corner I have absolutely no concerns. It's not like his brother Roger is training him. Floyd training Hatton for this fight is our biggest advantage."
Roach was asked if his charge would face another Mexican, Antonio Margarito.
"We're brave," he would say. "But we're not that brave."
So I chimed in and asked, "What about Wladimir Klitschko then?"
"I'd let him face Klitschko before I would Margarito," replied Roach, with a chuckle.
