De La Hoya hasn't been a real fighter for years. You can't fault the guy because he has been a great fighter in the past and made so much money from the sport. But, realistically, he has been a part-time boxer for years. That showed last weekend against Pacquiao who was so hungry to win that fight. Unfortunately for De La Hoya he just fell apart at the hinges after the first few rounds. He just didn't have anything there. So hopefully that was his last fight, I don't think he is going to fight again.

Dear Joe,

Congratulations on your win over Roy Jones last Saturday night. I’m happy to see that you’re finally getting some overdue credit, and now that you’ve accomplished what you wanted to against Jones and Bernard Hopkins, I think it’s time for you and I to settle some unfinished business.

I’m sure you remember, but if you don’t, you previously agreed to fight me three times in the past, yet all three times you pulled out of the fight due to injury and we never had the opportunity to give the fans the fight they were all waiting to see.

Well, now is the time to make up for all of that, to finally agree to fight me. You’ve done a lot in your career, but for you to truly cement your legacy, you know we must fight.

"It’s getting harder to focus on a fight and dad has to kick me up the backside more and more every time I fight.

"I think I will be able to walk away from boxing easily enough because I have always wanted to stay ahead of the game.

"It’s not a case of fighting until I can’t do it anymore, I want to get out at the top.

"I believe I am at the top now. So there is a good chance I am going to call it a day.

"And, if it was my last fight against Jones, I’m glad people got to see the best of Joe Calzaghe. I like to win in style and it was a great fight."
