"I have a good relationship with the people who will be doing his business and if they want to fight Sergio they know how to reach me. Sergio, I know, thinks the world of Mayweather’s power and would consider it an honor to fight him but I’m not gonna be out there and try to put pressure or challenge. Floyd’s the boss and if they want to fight…I think it would be spectacular." --Lou DiBella, promoter of middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez (Cliff Rold @ BoxingScene.com)
Promoters Lou DiBella and Gary Shaw had strong words about the Bernard Hopkins-Roy Jones Jr. card this Saturday. "You expect people to tune in for three hours to watch that s---?" DiBella said. "That undercard," Shaw said, "is a disgrace." Plenty more interesting stuff in Chris Mannix's Sports Illustrated story.
"This is definitely one the people in Youngstown should take a drive for. By the way, my guy’s going to win. Of course, I also said that twice before and I’m 0-2 against Kelly Pavlik, so they’ve got me on that one. They’re expecting 0-3 but I think I’m going to be 1-2." -- Promoter Lou DiBella, whose fighter Sergio Martinez faces Kelly Pavlik on April 17 in Atlantic City (Joe Scalzo @ The Youngstown Vindicator) (Photo by Phil Hawthorne / Getty Images)
