Cheers and jeers -- both to Katsidis and team

Jeers: Michael Katsidis will likely be named full WBO lightweight champion, with Juan Diaz being stripped for not facing him by the end of February. There is no reason for the WBO to even need an interim champion besides collecting another sanctioning fee, and stripping Diaz for something that's not his fault is just absurd.

Cheers: Katsidis and his legal team plan to sue Don King, whose fault it is, for impeding progress in their fighter's career. King has this coming. If he had been outbid by Golden Boy, that would be one thing. Everyone agrees that Oscar and Co. paid a very heavy sum ($1.5 million) for a Diaz-Katsidis fight, much higher than expected. But King didn't show up, or even send a representative. He knew he was going to get in the way of this fight for his own personal agenda. While he has the contractual right to do so, that doesn't mean I have to like it.
