DiBella gets busy, signs Cintron, Bailey and George

Source: Dan Rafael

Lou DiBella is making some waves, signing up welterweight Kermit Cintron, junior welterweight Randall Bailey, and light heavyweight Shaun George.

Recent rumors have had DiBella trying to land Cintron a fight with fellow Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, as both attempt to come back from losses to Antonio Margarito. That's a fight I'd like to see. Cintron's punching power is dangerous against anyone except the granite-chinned Margarito, and it sounds like a good action fight all-around.

Bailey, another big puncher, is hoping DiBella can land him another major fight. It's been years since he was really relevant, but Bailey can still go, and like Cintron, a KO is always possible.

There's talk in the Rafael article of DiBella matching Shaun George -- who upset Chris Byrd in Byrd's light heavyweight attempt -- with Glen Johnson. I think that's a terrible idea. A drained, old, faded Byrd is one thing; Glen Johnson is something else.

It's good news for all three fighters, no matter what. DiBella may not have the type of money that Top Rank and Golden Boy do, but he's well-respected, of course, and does business with anyone.
