Montreal's Dave Hilton Jr. is in trouble with the law once again, according to The Canadian Press. Hilton is being charged with assault for the fourth time in two years by the same woman.
Hilton's defence lawyer says he appeared in a Laval, Que., courtroom to face charges of assault and breaking a bail condition. Lawyer Clemente Monterosso says the alleged incident involved Hilton's ex-girlfriend.
It's the fourth time in two years the woman has filed charges with police against the former world super-middleweight champion.
The 46-year-old was acquitted in 2007 and again in January.
Hilton was also arrested in May and faces five charges, including armed assault.
For those that don't know the story of Davey Hilton, he is the son of Canadian great Dave Hilton, who won national titles at featherweight and junior welterweight. He boxed from 1958 through 1976, and finished with a career record of 67-16 with 49 knockout wins. He was never more than a domestic fighter, but he was a good domestic fighter.
The same, honestly, can be said of the son, who won the WBC junior middleweight title but had it stripped after sexual abuse charges were levied against him by his two daughters. Hilton served two-thirds of a prison sentence, being paroled in 2006. Hilton fought once in 2007 but has not been back in the ring since. He is also a former brother-in-law of the late Arturo Gatti.
