November 28's Boxing After Dark could be one awesome show if the latest news gets worked out. Rick Reeno reports that promoters are trying to make a fight between Marcos Maidana and Kendall Holt, a fight that almost guarantees action.
The show is headlined by the highly-anticipated rematch between 168-pound titlist Lucian Bute and warrior Librado Andrade. Bute survived a 12th-round assault from Andrade with some questionable officiating in Montreal last year, after dominating 11 rounds of action beforehand.
Maidana-Holt is a potential barnburner. Holt could be called chinny in that he gets knocked down a lot, but generally he recovers quite well. He has been stopped twice, once in a very controversial fight in Colombia against Ricardo Torres and the other time in the first round against Thomas Davis.
Against a thunderous puncher like Maidana, it would seem on paper he'd need to try to stay out of firefights, but it's just not his style. Even when fighting the generally reluctant Demetrius Hopkins, Holt tried to war when he could've just coasted.
It'd be a hell of a fight, a good matchup for both, and would just add to a card people are already looking forward to. It'd be quite the double-header for sure.
