In what was a fight that lived down to the worse expectations, Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero won a unanimous decision over faded Joel Casamayor. Official scores were 98-89 (twice) and 97-90 for Guerrero. Bad Left Hook scored it 96-90 for Guerrero.

Guerrero (27-1-1, 18 KO) was tentative and able to shake Casamayor (37-5-1, 22 KO) on several occasions, and was ruled to have scored a second round knockdown, a round in which Casamayor was also docked a point for repeatedly diving at Guerrero's legs. In the 10th round, Casamayor floored Guerrero with a hard right jab, but it wasn't nearly enough.

Casamayor, 39, looked positively awful with his balance, reflexes, speed and power in this fight. Most likely, he's done as a top-line fighter, though Golden Boy might be able to squeeze another couple of fights from him if he's up for it.

The win does little for Guerrero, really, as Casamayor is obviously well past his best, and there are more criticisms of Guerrero tonight than things you can say positively about his performance. He definitely won the fight, but the fight was dreadful and he clearly wasn't up against a fighter who had much left. Part of the reason Casamayor lasted all 10 rounds is his craftiness, but a lot of it was also that Guerrero showed no real desire to really attack and close the show, even when he had Casamayor shaken up at various points.
