Sharif Bogere on ShoBox: A Look Back at Bogere vs Beltran (Full Fight Video)

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

Courtesy Showtime Sports, here's the full May 13 fight between Sharif Bogere and Raymundo Beltran, a bloody, hard-fought battle that introduced many to the lightweight prospect Bogere, who returns to ShoBox on Friday night, facing Francisco Contreras.

Bogere (20-0, 12 KO) stayed unbeaten with this win over Beltran, though I did score it just slightly for Beltran. Depending on the day, though, I could go back and forth -- it was a good, very competitive fight, both guys got a little dirty when they felt that they had to, and both were prepared to go a tough 10 rounds to win, and they did so.

I know very little about Contreras (16-0, 13 KO), other than what his record can tell me. Born in the Dominican Republic, the 27-year-old is based in New Jersey and has been fighting in the U.S. since 2009. He doesn't have any big wins, but familiar names like Adolfo Landeros (UD-6), Eric Cruz (UD-8), and Juan Castaneda Jr (KO-1) are on his sheet. He's kind of an unknown going into this fight, and it's a good step up for him.
