Here are the purses for tomorrow night's Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez III pay-per-view, from the Nevada commission.
Fighter A | Purse | Fighter B | Purse |
Manny Pacquiao | $22,000,000 | Juan Manuel Marquez | $5,000,000 |
Timothy Bradley | $1,025,000 | Joel Casamayor | $100,000 |
Mike Alvarado | $75,000 | Breidis Prescott | $35,000 |
Luis Cruz | $35,000 | Juan Carlos Burgos | $22,500 |
Pacquiao's purse is actually listed as $6 million, but he's guaranteed $22 million, and should probably rake in about $30 million when all is said and done. This is the biggest payday of Marquez's career, and the incentive to win for him is clear: If he does, he has a rematch clause in his contract, and he would make $10,000,000 for a fourth fight against Pacquiao should he pull the upset.
Tim Bradley enjoys the same overpayment in his Top Rank debut as he was making with Shaw thanks to HBO money, but here it's coming from a PPV pot, so it's not so crazy. Everyone else is being paid about what you'd expect; Casamayor is getting the boxing equivalent of a veteran minimum, since he's probably the worst fighter of these eight at this point.
