This Saturday night on Showtime, an exciting bantamweight double-header will be shown live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., featuring a rematch main event between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko. These two men are, apart from the departing Nonito Donaire, the two top 118-pound fighters in the world, and in the co-feature, another pair of standouts do battle when Anselmo Moreno faces the brash Vic Darchinyan.
For those who may have missed the August 13 fight between Mares and Agbeko, you missed both a damn good fight and one that sparked some serious controversy over the poor performance of referee Russell Mora, who missed a great many low blows from Mares, and even called a knockdown of Agbeko on one in the 11th round.

But here's a look at what else you missed: A good, action-packed fight that had a big momentum shift, and were it not for a terrible job by the third man in the ring, would be remembered a lot more fondly:

Mares (22-0-1, 13 KO) and Agbeko (28-3, 22 KO) were ordered by the IBF to stage a rematch, and as a credit to them both, everything was signed, sealed, and delivered in short order. The promoters at Golden Boy and Don King Productions agreed as much as both fighters did: There was unfinished business that had to be taken care of on both sides.
Bad Left Hook will have round-by-round coverage of the bantamweight double-header on Saturday night, as Matt Miller will be taking care of that show for us. It's really a shame that there are two shows that have, in total, six fights that could be very good, and are airing at the same time, but it happens. We'll have you covered all night, between this show and the full Cotto vs Margarito pay-per-view.
