Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reports via Twitter that Lamont Peterson is not 100% dedicated to a rematch with Amir Khan for his next fight, and that manager/trainer Barry Hunter will encourage Peterson to consider other options if there's a better offer out there.
(1) Barry Hunter told me tonight, "I want to look at every option that comes across the table because it’s business." (2) "There’s no need to go rushing into anything or to be reckless in our decision making." (3) "I think he deserves the time to take in what he has just accomplished."
Earlier tonight, Peterson received an offer from Golden Boy Promotions for a fight on May 19 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

But Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO) owes nothing to Amir Khan right now. Yeah, Khan "gave him a shot" -- kind of. Peterson was the IBF mandatory, and Khan didn't want to give up his belt. The fact that Khan went to DC to fight is not Lamont Peterson's fault. It's not as if Peterson forced that issue. They all thought it was a good idea, so that's what happened.
There was no rematch clause and Peterson may well fight Khan again, and it does seem like everyone wants that. But if Peterson got a bigger offer from, say, Timothy Bradley and Top Rank for a rematch, or even a Floyd Mayweather fight (Lamont and Floyd have some gym history), he should be expected to entertain the offers. Golden Boy and Khan have to make this fight worth it for Lamont Peterson.
That's the reality right now, and it's going to be interesting to see where this goes.
