Well, now I'm a believer, because this is a quick little turnaround. The postponed HBO double-header featuring a main event of Erik Morales vs Danny Garcia for the WBC junior welterweight title has been rescheduled. ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reports the fight will now take place on March 24, still at the Reliant Arena in Houston.
"Morales is going to be in perfect shape. He could have fought in the second half of February but there were no dates," Schaefer said. "Now that it's going to be on March 24, Erik very much likes the time to prepare as well. It worked out. I'm happy that over the holiday, when most people were gone, we were still able to put the show back together and keep it in the same place because when you have an event which the local boxing community really embraced you want to keep it there."
Schaefer also says that ticket sales were already strong and that the key goal was trying to keep the fight in Houston.
James Kirkland and Carlos Molina will meet in the junior middleweight co-feature.
