Back in August, Mares, who was then the challenger for Agbeko's IBF belt, was actually a bigger favorite than he is this time around. That first fight was debated not just because of Russell Mora's incompetent performance as the referee, or because of Mares' low blows, but because some felt that Agbeko had deserved to win the fight anyway, in spite of all that.

Mares (22-0-1, 13 KO) still has something to prove to a lot of people, including, it appears, the world's gamblers. Agbeko (28-3, 22 KO) was picked to win this fight by four of our eight staff prognosticators, and one of us (yours truly) who picked Mares predicted that it would be, let's say, controversial. This is a real deal, great matchup.
