Pawel Wolak pushed and pushed and pushed, but he was just outgunned tonight by Delvin Rodriguez, who closed the show very strong and was able to land the cleaner, harder blows for much of the fight.
Rodriguez won a unanimous decision on scores of 98-91, 98-92 and 100-90. Bad Left Hook scored it closer, 96-93 for Rodriguez. The shutout score is a bit much, as Wolak (29-2-1, 19 KO) definitely had moments and did some very effective work in the fight, especially to the body, but this was Rodriguez's fight.
Rodriguez improves to 26-5-3 (14 KO).
This fight didn't live up to their July 15 thriller from the Roseland Ballroom, but was indeed another very good fight, and woke up the Madison Square Garden crowd.
Hopefully Rodriguez, who has had a hard luck career but has shown himself as a quality fighter over and over, will get a major shot soon.
