Dynamite junior welterweight prospect Pier Olivier Cote (18-0, 12 KO) will headline the February 3 edition of ShoBox: The New Generation from Quebec City, facing Mauricio Herrera (18-1, 7 KO) in the main event.
Cote, 27, opened a lot of eyes in his last fight, a two-round demolition of Jorge Teron on November 5. He showcased his extremely fast hands, his explosive power in both of them, and a killer instinct that has made him one of the top names to watch in the changing 140-pound landscape.
Herrera, 31, is a battler from California who scored a couple of good wins on Friday Night Fights last season. In the 2011 season premiere on January 7, he upset Ruslan Provodnikov and took the Russian's "0" with a 12-round decision win in a fight that set the tone for the FNF season in terms of upset results and action fights.
He was back on June 24, and scored a majority decision win over Mike Dallas Jr in that night's co-feature. Herrera was scheduled to rematch Provodnikov in August, but the fight fell through.
22-year-old junior middleweight prospect Mikael Zewski (12-0, 8 KO) will be in the main support slot for the ShoBox card. Zewski is totally untested so far, and this will be a nice chance to see a promising young fighter, hopefully in a step up.
