Tonight at 9:45 EST on HBO Boxing After Dark, we'll get a live doubleheader headlined by a great fight at 118 pounds between titleholder Fernando Montiel and pound-for-pound contender Nonito Donaire. In the co-feature, Mike Jones will look to impress in his rematch with Jesus Soto Karass. The two first met last November on the Pacquiao-Margarito card, with Jones blowing himself up early trying to knock out the resilient Mexican, and finding himself in a world of trouble down the stretch before escaping with a debated and close victory.
As for the main event, it's a great fight on paper that hopefully winds up worth the hype and the long wait to see these two lock horns. Both are riding some good momentum, both have power, and both are offense-first fighters looking to make a statement. This is the first HBO main event under 126 pounds in a long, long time, too, so it's kind of special in that regard.
You can check out my fight preview from a couple of days ago for more on Montiel-Donaire, and we hope to see you here tonight for the fights.
