That was certainly a bust. Come, darlin'. Let's seek our entertainment elsewhere.
While we did get to see a couple of live fights this afternoon from Germany and Ireland, the fact that the fights lasted a combined one round and change was certainly a disappointment. Hopefully, Lucian Bute and Brian Magee can make up for the quick exits tonight on Showtime at 10pm EDT, but the prospect of another quick stoppage is definitely there. Bute is a heavy favorite and a top-ranked fighter, while Magee is a tough veteran fringe contender who has given good fights in the past to the likes of Carl Froch and Robin Reid.
You can check out our preview of this fight from earlier in the week. Bute's power, class and deadly body punching seem to give him a massive edge heading into the fight, but Magee is a gritty boxer who doesn't quit easy. We hope you'll join us tonight for live scoring and commentary and immediate post-fight analysis.
For those without Showtime, excellent junior flyweight Roman Gonzalez will be taking on Manuel "Chango" Vargas (who never has a bad fight) on Fox Deportes at 10pm.
