Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reports on his Twitter account this evening that rumor has it Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in attendance tonight at Foxwoods in Connecticut, for the HBO fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz. Given Floyd's lack of activity, recent legal and IRS issues, and the fact that some weird fights have been through the rumor mill attached to Floyd's name, it seems like there just might be a chance that Mayweather could be in the house to scout an opponent, or to announce a fight.

What also sets my Spidey sense tingling is that we're within one month of Manny Pacquiao's fight with Shane Mosley on May 7. Mayweather has in the past been pretty savvy about piggybacking press coverage when other big fights are about to happen. He announced his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2009 just before Pacquiao's fight with Ricky Hatton, for instance. With HBO and Mayweather both needing something big, this might be the time to make an announcement.

This is all just speculation, other than the fact that it appears solid that Mayweather is in fact in the house in Mashantucket. We'll update you if anything more comes out of this story tonight.
