Fight Chatter: Librado Andrade Confirmed, Humberto Soto Rumored

  • Humberto Soto could be back on June 4 or June 25, facing Daniel Estrada in Mexico. Soto recently declared himself a free agent and dropped out of a May 7 rematch with Urbano Antillon, which was to be the featured undercard bout on the Pacquiao-Mosley show. Estrada (25-2-1, 19 KO) is a fun fighter to watch, a 25-year-old who brings action. His fight last February with Angel Alirio Rivero was one of the damnedest fights of the year, a pure brawl. Estrada went 3-1-1 last year, losing to Reyes Sanchez and getting a four-round technical draw against Reyes Velazquez. He last fought in March, beating journeyman Arturo Gomez. Soto is really too skilled for Estrada, but he's fought worse opponents. (BoxingScene.com)
  • Brothers Librado Andrade and Enrique Ornelas headline at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif., on May 6. Andrade will face Aaron Pryor Jr. in a ten-rounder at light heavyweight, which indicates that Andrade is moving out of the super middleweight division, a good idea considering he's just not going to be beating any of the top guys at 168. Ornelas' opponent has not yet been named. (Fightnews)
  • Unheralded but talented prospect Christopher "S.D. Kid" Martin (21-0-2, 6 KO) will face Charles Huerta (16-2, 9 KO) on May 20 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Martin "upset" Chris Avalos last year. The fight will be televised on Solo Boxeo Tecate. More fights of even this level on the show would be really welcome. (Fightnews)
