Video Hype: Manny Pacquiao Demonstrates His Basketball Skills

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

With the NBA playoffs in full swing, here's a timely and topical bonus video from Showtime's Fight Camp 360 of Manny Pacquiao hooping it up a little, and talking about one of his many outside interests.

Freddie Roach (and others on Team Pacquiao) have long bemoaned Manny's involvement with playing basketball given the risks of getting hurt doing anything athletic, but in truth one of the things I like about Manny is his exact response to that here. He likes doing it, so he does it. I really don't mean to sound like a Pacquiao fanboy or anything, but the guy just truly enjoys his life and seems to genuinely believe he's very lucky to be who he is. He's a change of pace in and out of the ring from your normal boxing story.

And sort of on the topic, the NBA playoffs this year have been outstanding. It felt really good to watch the Hawks polish off smilin' Dwight and the lame Magic last night. I'll also go on record as saying I like the Mavericks over the Lakers. GO BET ALL YOUR MONEY ON THAT!
